DMC offers assistance to Main Street Grant Program applicants

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Rochester’s Destination Medical Center (DMC) is partnering with a statewide business development center to help businesses apply for its Main Street grant program.

Last week, DMC announced that the new grant program will provide no-cost grants to business owners looking to upgrade parts of their facilities or add new assets. Grants can cover up to 30% of project costs.

Any business in the DMC district can apply, anywhere downtown and two miles west of St. Mary’s on 2nd Street.

In addition to the grant, DMC partners with the Southeast Minnesota Region Small Business Development Center to provide applicants with assistance during the application process.

DMC Business Development Manager Chris Schad said the help would pave the way for all different types of business owners.

“It’s easy to take for granted. For some of us, the application process is really simple. It’s simple, it’s easy to understand, but if you don’t have business experience or if English is the second or third language, if you don’t have extensive experience in business, it can seem like a daunting process just to start the process,” he said.

Since the launch of the grant program last week, a dozen companies have applied. Over the next week, DMC will contact the companies that will receive the grants.
