Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Friday that the state is fueling technology-based development and it will be the greatest contribution to the country’s development.
This happened during a speech at a “What India Thinks Today Global Summit-2022” conclave organized by TV9 network in New Delhi.
During the event, the Chief Minister said that Karnataka has been identified as the growth engine of the country and has a long history of technological development.
“Karnataka is home to the largest number of leading institutions in aerospace, defense and industrial production in both public and private sectors,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of Karnataka in the country’s economy, Bommai said most of the major R&D centers ranging from IT and BT to Artificial Intelligence are in Bengaluru.
“Karnataka is the state with the largest number of R&D centers. About 400 out of the 500 fortune companies are present in Bengaluru. Karnataka leads others in IT, BT, aerospace and startups,” Bommai said.
Asked about the benefits of dual engine government, Bommai said, “Dual engine government is definitely beneficial. Many works would go smoothly if Delhi’s gates were opened. Policies are made in Delhi, that is the international gateway, only a dual-engine government can pave the way to reach the international level.”
The Chief Minister further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a leader with a long-term vision. He prioritized skills development.
“Karnataka is rich in skilled manpower. The Prime Minister has changed the perception from seeing the huge population as a burden to seeing it as an asset by calling it a ‘demographic dividend’. Karnataka State is reaping huge gains from population science and its achievement is attracting other states as well,” Bommai said.
The Chief Minister further added that the defense sector has a strong presence in the state under the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat mission.
“DRDO has many research centers in Karnataka, it is the first state to have signed MoUs with leading semiconductor companies. The state would soon start manufacturing semiconductors. is our strength, so dual-engine government will bring enormous benefits to the state,” he said.
“We have the greatest number of startups and unicorns. The policies made in Delhi have had a direct impact on Karnataka,” Bommai said.
Furthermore, he said Prime Minister Modi’s concept of “minimum government, maximum governance” is the new model for growth.
“Karnataka’s ecosystem, R&D base and skilled workforce have proven ideal for the creation and growth of startups,” Bommai said.
